The class before the featured event was The Irish Horse Board 6&7 year old FInal and there were 20 fabulous Irish bred horses in the class. Only 7 went through to the jump off which was well rideen by all in it - nobody was looking to "run the legs" off these quality young horses and result was excellent jumping - although peter Gillespie's track caused enough problems in both the first round and the jump off with double clears being a rare commodity today. Conor O'Regan and the 6 year old Salinera owned by Francis O'regan were first out and they had two fences down finishing with 8 faults in 35.48secs taking 6th place in the final placings. Miguel Bravo and his own HHS Cashmere, a six year old by Cavalier Royale were another combination to finish with 8 faults having the last two fences down and a time of 36.63secs taking 7th place in the final lineup. Mark Flynn and Ballinclover Boy, a 7 year old by Ballinvella out of a Clover Hill mare gave us the first clear jump off round with a time of 35.00secs and they finished in 3rd place in the final lineup. Greg Broderick was next to go in the jump and he rode the 6 year old Ballypatrick Esperanza by Cavalier out of a Cruising mare and they too had 8 faults in 33.05secs to take 5th place in the final count. Gabriel Slattery and J. Lee's seven year old Welcome Captain by Captain Clover out of a Leguan Prince mare gave us our second clear jump off round in 33.75secs which was good enough to be in second place at presentation. Richie Moloney was second last to go with A.Doogue's seven year old by Errigal Flight and they had just the one fence down in 40.11secs to give them 4th place in the final lineup. Last to go and the only one who could deny Gabrielle the win in this prestigious young horse class was Shane Breen riding K.Prescott's Mullaghdrin Gold Rain, a seven year old by Golden Cliff out of an Irco Mena mare and they put in a foot perfect round leaving everything in place and stopping the clock at 31.27secs to take first place in this class which saw a €4,000 prize fund kindly sponsored by the Irish Horse Board. |

Kisses- pictured right - for daddy, Miguel Bravo, when he came out of presentation in the 6&7 year old class. For some - pictured below - the long five day show caught up on them and a quick nap before the Grand Prix was needed! |

THe two young ladies - pictured above left and right - decided that they would try the fences without horsepower - and they did a great job - perhaps next year there will be a class for horseless jumpers! And as always the trade stands were well patronised by the big crowds who always attend these shows - and again there were plenty of bargains to be had for the clever shoppers! |
