As the year draws to a close the Showjumper's Club have again been hard at work organising the end of year festivities - the Showjumpers Ball, which will again incorporate the Annual Awards. The Ball will be held at Killashee House Hotel in Naas, County Kildare on Saturday, 26th November, 2005 with all being welcome. Tickets
are €80 per head payable prior to the evening by phoning Maureen Bagnall
on 087 2635732 and Sheila White on 086 810976. Tables are arranged in settings
of 10 people so put together a table and enjoy the evening with friends. The Rookie
of the Year is for a rider under 25 years of age and it is acknowledgement
of performance at both national and international level - this award is selected
by the Showjumpers Club committee. The Hall of Fame award is made by a sub-committee which consists of two members of the Showjumpers Club and an independent appointment giving the responsibility of this award to to three people whose names are not disclosed to the public. This year a new award has been brought in - The Paul Darragh Special Achievement Award which will be marked by a Perpetual Trophy. This award has been commissioned by Paul's father Prof. Austin Darragh and family. The award will be presented by Paul's wife Jane and the recipient will be chosen by the Darragh family in conjunction with the Showjumpers Club committee and will be made to a person who has achieved at a high level, representing Irish Showjumping - there are no specific parameters other than the recipient's involvement in the sport of showjumping. The Award for the 2005 International Rider will be decided by a public vote - to register your vote text the first name of the person you vote for to phone: 53307. The nominations
