Firstly, thank you to the sponsors of the event - International Animal Health, Belcam-Klatte Farm, Horseland Underwood, Mitavite, Naturvet, and the ACE Group.

As it is always hard to judge what sort of support is expected at any event, we were happy to have so many of our local showjumping teams at our event, including a couple of teams from interstate. It was a great day out for the horses, a nice surface and a horse friendly atmosphere to lead us up to some of the bigger shows in the coming weeks.

The outdoor arena at Belcam has a steady natural fall which always makes things interesting for us showjumpers, usually preferring the perfectly level going! Local course builder Anthony Murray made good use of this and built some lovely flowing yet challenging courses. Official judging was handled by Alan Hodge, and our guest judge for the Young Horse Classics was former Olympian Guy Creighton.

Our new concept for the young horses was popular, although still an idea in it's infancy. Guy did a fantastic job judging these classes, using his many years of knowledge to assess each horse on it's scope, technique, ridability and overall impression. The horses were ranked on this result and then also on their jump off against the clock, both results were totaled and a final result was found.

The 6 & 7 year old class was well contested and a very close result between two lovely young stallions, the imported son of Animo "Animate" ridden by Heidi Mellers and "Wirrigulla Nicklaus" by Falkrich and Paul Anthanasoff. Congratulations to Paul on his success in this class.

The 4 & 5 year olds were also a lovely bunch of new faces, unfortunately due to running out of daylight - the event result was taken from the first round only. This was won by a very classy horse "Balmoral Tim Tram" owned by event rider Simone Kahn and ridden by Peter McMahon. Second in this class was the imported stallion "Hector" (Calido/Grannus) ridden by the event's host Ulrich Klatte.

The Young Rider Challenge was convincingly won by South Australian Amy Graham and the ex Queenslander "Untold Secret" from local rider Jon Berry and "Jump Street".

A big thank you to those of you that helped out on the day. (making sure we finished just before the sun disappeared!) Thank you also to the riders that supported our event - here's looking forward to Gatton Show - next up in the Queensland Winter Showjumping Series.

Editors note: Queensland is in the north of Australia and the majority of their showjumping is done in the Winter and Spring to take advantage of the mild climate - much in the same way as the Sunshine Tour which runs in Portugal and Spain through the Northern Hemisphere winters and the Florida circuit which runs in the USA through their winter.

Queensland is a perfect location for anyone wishing to get away from the harsher southern winters and for any travelers from the Northern Hemisphere this is the perfect time of year to visit Queensland - and if showjumping is your leaning then a visit to Belcam's Klatte Farm is a must.
