Without the support of sponsors such as Holmestead Saddlery events like this couldn't happen so remember to support them in return.......

2003 National Pony and Young Rider Championships - 28th-31st August

left - Charles Hanley has his "dad" hat on for this event as son Cormack rides to continue the Slattery/Hanley tradition of showjumping excellence!

With two such famous and successful showjumping families combining it can only be good for showjumping - they obviously have ALL their breeding programs just perfect!

The ponies were so impressive with their amazing technique, scope and ability to "push the pedal" in the jump offs.

From talking to many of the parents ringside most of these ponies seemed to have a common ingredient - the Connemara pony!

The Irish ponies obviously have the same wonderful brains that their bigger counterparts, the Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horses have!

Following are some of the presentation photos - it was great to see the pride with which these riders competed for their Teams regardless of their final placings - and the victory laps of honour were a sight to behold for your Aussie journalists! In fact one commentator suggested that some of these ponies may well be racing next week at The Curragh!

and in conclusion.......below

This young lady has everything she needs....except perhaps a horse!
