The Germans have won the Vaulting Team Gold medal, the Dressage Team Gold medal and the Eventing Team Gold medal - so it will come as no surprise that the bookmakers have the Germans as the 2-1 favourite for the Showjumping Team Gold medal.

Monday at the World Equestrian is a day off and then competition begins for the showjumpers - and by Sunday there will be a new World Champion crowned, ending the reign of the quiet Irishman, Dermott Lennon.

It is a shame that Dermott will not be defending his title and that the number 2 rider in the world, Jessica Kurten will not be attending the World Championships as the internal strife continues to brew in Irish showjumping.
