| With the Outdoor League officially beginning the previous weekend, everyone was very disappointed that the shocking weather caused the Coilog event to be cancelled - especially those of us who had gone early and seen the hard work put in by the committee at Coilog. We understand the event has not been cancelled but rescheduled, with a possible date being May 21st, yet to be confirmed. So the event at Dundalk was the first kick out for riders based in Ireland and on our arrival it appeared that everyone in Ireland had turned up for the event held at the private property of Mr Tom McGuiness, the man who is Horseware Ireland. The ground at Tom's property is a very sandy based soil and so people were fairly confident that even though the weather was still threatening the jumping was going to be fine. The weather on Saturday was far from pleasant with icey winds blowing all day but the rain did hold off which was a blessing for the hundreds of horses and riders at the event. All classes saw huge numbers of entries and the Grand Prix for the second day had a record number of entries which was double those in 2004 - so a good weekend of jumping was in store for eveyone. The main arena was in the very capable hands of Course Designer, Tom Holden, Ring Two was in the care of Frank Glynn and Ring Three was designed by Declan Moran and the courses in all three rings were excellent with tests appropriate to the level of the classes being jumped. The pony rings were also very well attended all weekend with the riders doing a fabulous job - unfortunately with 6 rings running the jumpingaround.com crew could only cover certain areas - the following photos are a compilation from all three of the horse rings and also some from the pony rings. | |||||||||||
