Dear Editor,
I would like to submit the following to the jumpingaround.com mailbag.
The Mt. Gambier Showjumping Club would like to sincerely thank all the visitors
and competitors who attended the Australian Showjumping Championships in December.
We
believe the 4 day event was an outstanding success and with a total of just
under 400 horses attending it must go down as one of the biggest equestrian
events held in the state of South Australia for such a long time.
A special thanks must go to all the volunteers, judges and coursebuilders
etc. who donated their time and expertise to make the event the success it
was.
All the jumping events were excellent and in particular the Championship events.
The Senior Australian Championship must have been one of the biggest tracks
witnessed in this country for a long time. If this standard of competition
can be maintained, it should not be long until our competitiveness overseas
is noticed!
The City Council and 'Bob the Barman'(winner of the Calcutta) would also like
to thank all those who attended and complement all on their politeness and
cleanliness during their stay in the Blue Lake City. All were great ambassadors
for the sport of Showjumping.
The week following the Champs. all the local media gave full and glowing reports
on the event and the city was a buzz with it's success.
Thank you to jumpingaround.com and other web sites for reporting on the event
with some great photos.
Many have asked if this weekend will continue in Mt. Gambier annually!
The committee has decided to do it once,do it well. Unfortunately there was
a heavy drain on volunteers and especially sponsors during the Champs. and
it is thought this could not be maintained annually.
For those who would like to compete in the Velodrome over our great jumps For those who would like to compete in the Velodrome over our great jumps
the club will continue to run their Junior Carnival in January and their Festival
at Easter each year.
So to conclude once again thanks go to all who attended and helped make
the Championships the success it was.
The Committee.
