Garibaldi, sire of Totilas amongst others,
has died..NEW
Garibaldi,
himself a Grand Prix performer, was recently awarded preferent sire at the
licence testing for 2010. Graribaldi has sired what could well be the greatest
dressage horse ever seen in Totilas died after he suffered a ruptured aorta.
The stables of Edward Gal are heartbroken over this loss saying "We
can't believe that his happened to you. You'll be in our hearts forever. Rest
peacefully, dear Gribaldi....”

A tragic road accident takes 17 year old
Jaime Stroud....

one of life's worst tragedies 17 year old Jaime Stroud and her 59 year old

News to hand of Eric Levallois after
a serious car crash....
Eric,
a member of the Team Gold showjumping team in Jerez at the 2002 World Championships
is recovering from a car crash which saw him undergo surgery. He will be transferred
to a rehabilitation hospital in Rennes in a few days and although in a very
serious condition hopes are high for his recovery. It is still too early to
say whether the 46 year old will showjump again.

Three titles for Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum...
In
a nail biting finish to a fabulous week in Las Vegas the American born Meredith,
riding for Germany proved just how good she and the 16 year old gelding Shutterfly
are when they jumped without fault over the 3 day, never looking anything
but champions! Shutterfly is the oldest horse to win a World Cup Final and
Meredith now equals Rodrigo Pessoa's triple!

Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum makes it two out
of two...
In
a thrilling jump off in Vegas tonight, alst to go, MMB flew home, leaving
no shortcut out with the exceptional Shutterfly winning the 13 horse jump
off with a clear round in 32.77 from American McLain Ward and Sapphire who
finished clear in 33.77secs. Third went to very popular Albert Zoer and Okey
Dokey with their clear round in 34.7secs.

World Cup Showjumping Final gives Germany the
win........
Meredith
Michaels-Beerbaum for Gemrnay has take out the first class at the Las Vegas
hosted World Cup Final jumping clear all the way with Shutterfly in the Table
C class. Forty-three competitors started with 42 coming through the finish
flags.

World Cup Champion for Dressage goes to the
USA...
Steffan
Peters took the honours at the Dressage World Cup Final in Las Vegas today,
beating Anky van Grunsven and Isabel Werth. Peters was given a 9 by the judges
for his riding which is a record score and his Grand Prix score was a personal
best of 77.915%

Christian Ahlmann hearing handed down...
Christian
Ahlmann has received a 4 month (120 day) suspension
after his positive test to Capsacain in Hong
Kong. This decision, combined with that of Denis Lynch and Bernardo Alves
certainly confirms Pessoa's complaint of the great variations in the decisions
being handed down by the FEI considering that 4 of the 5 tested positive to
the same substance.

Ruling on Denis Lynch and Latinus...
Official
notification from the FEI sees Denis Lynch receive a 3 month suspension from
International competition begining on 21st August through to 21st November,
2008. Denis has 30 days to lodge an appeal. This decision will no doubt anger
Pessoa even more as it is yet again a different time to others already handed
down.

Will the nightmare ever end in showjumping....
The
news just in from the FEI is that Rodrigo Pessoa's horse Rufus has also
returned a positive test to the drug nonivamide, part of the capsaicinoid
family.
This
now makes 5 in total in showjumping who have returned positives - surely
all these horses can't suddenly have such bad backs that they all require
the same hypersensitivity drug? More to come.

a thrilling jump of between 7 for the Bronze, American Beezie Madden won the
Bronze medal and then we had a two way jump off for the Gold and Silver with
Eric Lamaze for Canada coming out with the Gold and Sweden's Rolf Goran-Bengtsson
taking Silver.

The
four riders have now been confirmed, Denis Lynch for Ireland, Christian Ahlmann
for Germany, Bernardo Alves for Brazil and Tony Andre Hansen for Norway have
all tested positive to Capsaicin and the four riders are already out of the

just in tells us that 4riders have been tested positive to drugs used on their
horses in Hong Kong - a full press conference will be held in one hour in
Hong Kong

give full details - at the moment word is that the riders represent Ireland,
Germany, Brazil and Norway, which would put Norways medal in question!

Sad news in that Australian vet died of
Hendra virus overnight..
It
was announced this morning that Australian vet, Ben Cunneen, who was hospitalised
when he contracted the deadly Hendra virus died overnight in the Princess
Alexandra Hospital in Queensland. The full story will be told here in the

Wrong time for things to go wrong.....
Peter
McMahon did not show for the jumping today - the story direct from the Lang-McMahon
camp - "the mare warmed up superbly and on the final vertical before
going in, she stumbled on landing and flipped over. The mare Genoa is ok but
Pete has a broken collar bone to contend with". Such a sad end to a great
run up to the Games.

Germany win the Dressage Team gold for the
7th time in a row..
With
a spectacular display from Germany's Isabel Werth, the Team Gold belongs to
the Germans again, with the Netherlands taking Silver, and Denmark grabbing
the Bronze from the USA - it came down to the final ride of the Grand Prix,
from Stefan Peters for the USA till the Bronze was decided. Sweden finished
in 5th with Great Britain finishing a disappointing 6th, France in 7th place

German Dentist takes home the Gold for Eventing..
In
a spectacular, nail biting final for the Individual Eventing medals, Megan
Jones nearly had the Bronze in the bag till the final fence fell leaving her
out of the medals. Ingrid Klimke for Germany also out with a fence down -
but the evening belongs to Hinrich Romeike, a full time dentist who has the
super horse Marius - a medal well deserved. Silver goes to USA's Gina Miles,
with the Bronze going to last minute inclusion Tina Cooke for Great Britain.

Eventing Gold to Germany, Silver to Aus and

a cliff hanger of a final the Germans took the Gold when Megan Jones lowered
a fence in the showjumping, leaving Aus with the Silver medal in Hong Kong

HK after Cross Country
The
tough battle for medals looks set, after Cross Country, to be fought out by
Germany, Australia and Great Britain who have a strong lead at this stage.
The Cross Country track saw no riders come in under time and it became a case

Olympic showjumping horses held in Dubai due
to typhoon.
A
plane load of showjumping horses have been held over in Dubai and are
stabled at the stables of Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, the husband of International Equestrian Federation President
HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein.It is hoped they will be able to continue
to Sha Tin as soona s possible.

Quarantine lifted on Hendra virus affected
Vet Clinic, Australia.....
Earlier
than the announced 2 week quarantine it appears it is "business as usual"
at Redlands Vet Clinic in Queensland Australia with initial testing coming
back. One staff member has had a positive return sample to the Hendra virus.

Korea was host to visiting nations for their CSIO2* event which saw Japan
win the Teams event and the host nation, Korea took places 1,2 and 3 in the

Eilish
Byrne has been named as the Irish representative in Hong Kong for the
Paralympic Games later this year. Eilish Byrne and her flashy Dutch warmblood
Youri, based with Kevin O'Sullivan and NIall Quirke in Arklow, continues
to train with Niall Quirke to ensure doing her country proud. Eilish,
43yo, has spina bifida and competes in Grade 2.
